Point and Shoot
May 28th
I haven’t been shooting photographs like I used to. I used to just shoot for the sake of shooting.
Becoming a professional has it’s set backs, you start to think too highly of yourself and don’t want to “lower” yourself to just shooting stuff.
I need to shoot more STUFF, JUST FOR THE SAKE OF SHOOTING…
I will now carry my Canon G11 with me more to JUST SHOOT…
A learning experience…

There are many different types of photographers and photographs. They all serve vastly different purposes using a common medium. Part of being an artist is finding yourself and finding what kind of an artist you are.
It is this process of self discovery that makes the journey interesting.
When people first start off taking pictures they have varied goals, take nice photos of pretty things, tell stories, get pretty girls to take their clothes off, show the glory of God, capture truth, show the world their perspective among others. We all have our reasons no matter how noble or devious they may be. This post isn’t to judge peoples reasons but speak a little on my own discoveries.
I am a conceptual artist… ideas get me excited, making the ideas come to life is just part of the process but developing that idea is what gets me going. I have done many different photo shoots in a wide range of styles but conceptual imagery is what I would prefer to do.
As a developing artist I have tried different styles, techniques and subject matter to find what it is I need to be doing with this marginal talent I have.
I have shot a TON of hip hop artists, and living and loving the lifestyle and culture has allowed me to have an intimate relation with the subject, a relationship that has allowed me to be somewhat successful in the art of capturing this culture. Be it through artist portraits or live performance photography or album artwork.
But as the case with a lot of artists, I did not want to be locked into that label of “HIP HOP PHOTOGRAPHER”.
So I venture out and try different styles. I haven’t really done beauty shots… I should do a beauty shoot… Just because… but wait… you should have a concept because, you know, all your work is conceptual…
I HATE THE END RESULT…
(for a few reasons… but continue reading it gets interesting… )
